Welcome to Silicon Valley Nature Cam

Silicon Valley Nature Cam is here to share urban wildlife. Silicon Valley is located in the Bay Area of Northern California, just South of San Francisco. This area is well-known for many large high-tech and startup companies, but the surrounding foothills provide a wealth of nature and wildlife to enjoy.

We are especially lucky to have a bonded Barn Owl pair return to our owl house annually. During this entire process, our goal is to keep the live web-cam streaming 24/7 so everyone can enjoy this couple's journey and the wonder of new life in the wild, from their courtship to their fledging. Please take note, though, that as we witness the daily joys of them raising their young, we also witness the daily struggles and cycle of life and death in detail and in real-time.

Silicon Valley Nature Cam is looking to upgrade the owl house and camera quality for the 2017 nesting season. If you'd like to support this endeavor, there is a "Donate" button in the left column, and any amount is greatly appreciated. Every penny helps! 100% of all donations will be spent on the Barn Owl Web Cam.

We have been streaming live for three years, with two prior years in existence before the cameras were up-and-running. During this time, we've continued to upgrade our infrastructure. We have upgraded and increased the number of dedicated computers to this project, added owl flight platforms, and we've run wires to the proposed, new camera locations. Our goal for the 2017 nesting season is to build a larger owl house and upgrade to a higher definition camera. If financially able, we will also add external cameras for viewing the owl house and owl flight platforms.
